The Kathmandu Valley is a bowl-shaped valley located in central Nepal, surrounded by hills and nestled in the Himalayan region. Known as the National Capital Area, it is the cultural, political, and economic heart of Nepal, comprising the three historic cities of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, as well as other rapidly growing urban areas.

Kathmandu, the capital and largest city of Nepal, lies at the Centre of the valley and serves as a vibrant hub of history, culture, politics, and economy. The town reflects a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditions, evident in its architecture, lifestyle, and religious sites. Home to over 5 million people, the Kathmandu Valley features seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including iconic temples and palaces such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and the Durbar Squares of its three main cities. The valley is renowned for its rich Newar culture, beautiful traditional architecture, vibrant festivals, and centuries-old history.
